EU’s transition to T+1 settlement on 11 October 2027

High-Level Overview of the EU T+1 Settlement Initiative

The EU T+1 Settlement Initiative is a strategic program led by the EU T+1 Industry Committee, in collaboration with ESMA, the European Commission and the European Central bank, to shorten the securities settlement cycle from T+2 to T+1 across the European Union and European Economic Area.

What’s new?

Join the T+1 Industry Testing Event, hosted by PwC in Frankfurt, that provides a platform for industry experts to explore and align on the transition to T+1. Its objective is to offer a deep dive into the Industry Taskforce’s Testing Framework – sharing insights, addressing open questions, and discussing practical implications for market participants across the value chain. T+1 Is Coming: Are you preparing?

The move to T+1 settlement represents a major industry shift toward faster, more efficient post-trade processes. While the High-Level Roadmap, prepared by EU T+1 Industry Committee, offers guidance through the recommendations it contains, each firm must conduct its own analyses to understand the operational and technological changes required. We strongly encourage market participants to begin assessing their readiness now and take the necessary steps to ensure a smooth and timely transition.

“Like climbers at base camp, market participants must check their equipment and prepare for the ascent to T+1.”

Giovanni Sabatini
Chair of EU T+1 Industry Committee
